Support the Ministry

Green Lake relies on people, prayer and financial donations to make our dreams a reality. Since our first season in 1944, this is a place where people have come to experience a closer walk with God and to be inspired by great Christian leaders including Martin Luther King Jr., Leighton Ford and Philip Yancey. There are many ways you can participate in God's ministry at Green Lake Conference Center. Click here to learn more!

Make a Financial Gift

Financial gifts to Green Lake Conference Center maintain and improve the facilities, provide programming, and fund scholarship grants. Scholarships enable hundreds of pastors, lay persons, youth and adults to come to Green Lake for conferences who would otherwise not have been able to attend.

Planned Giving

Planned Giving is a wonderful way to include Green Lake Conference Center in your estate plans. There are several ways that you can make a planned gift to Green Lake. One way is through a gift annuity. When you create a gift annuity, you receive an immediate charitable tax deduction and the payments you receive are partially tax-free for a number of years. Upon your death, the remainder of the annuity is designated to Green Lake Conference Center. Download the Estate Planning brochure for other planned giving ideas.

Stocks

The benefits of donating appreciated securities (either stocks or mutual funds) are tremendous. You are able to avoid paying capital gains tax on the appreciation, and you also get to deduct the full fair market value of the security at the time of gift. This is an excellent way to leverage your gift in support of our ministry.

If you are interested in donating securities, there are several ways to make the transfer:

Electronic Transfer – Simply instruct your broker to electronically transfer your securities out of your account into Green Lake’s TD Ameritrade account. Your broker will need: our account number 769378688, DTC number 0188 and the account name, listed as “American Baptist Assembly.” As a second choice we also have an A.G. Edwards account. Please notify us of stock transfers because donor information is not provided with the transfer.

Certificate Transfer – Transferring your certificate can be as easy as endorsing the back of the certificate and sending it by certified mail to Green Lake Conference Center. You must sign the certificate in front of a bank officer to obtain a "medallion signature guarantee." (Notary public stamps are not an acceptable guarantor for stock certificates.) A medallion signature guarantee is required on all certificates. Be sure to endorse the certificate exactly as your name(s) appears on the front. For example, if your certificate is listed as “John F. and Mary P. Jones”, you will need to sign the certificate exactly as “John F. Jones”, and “Mary P. Jones.” Insert Green Lake’s tax identification number, 39-0806806, in the box on the back requesting a social security number or other identifying number of assignee.

Employee Owned Stock in Non-Retirement Plans – If you purchased stock from your employer (e.g. non-retirement E.S.O.P.) you can instruct them to issue a certificate with our legal name of American Baptist Assembly. They will need our tax identification number, 39-0806806, and our address as given above.

Mutual Fund Transfers – Contact Green Lake’s Development Department about the most efficient way to transfer a mutual fund. We will provide the transfer instructions specifically related to your mutual fund company.

Once a transfer has been completed, contact us. This is very important, especially if the gift has been transferred electronically to our account or a certificate has been issued in Green Lake Conference Center’s name, since your name will not be associated with your donation. We would also like to say “thank you” personally as well as provide you with an acknowledgment letter for your tax purposes.

Matching Gifts

Green Lake Conference Center friends may have the chance to multiply the money that our ministry receives. Many businesses — from large corporations to regional companies — have matching gift programs set up to encourage their employees to donate money to charities and public service organizations. Even retired employees are often eligible to participate in their former employer's matching gift programs.

The typical matching gift program is set up so that a company or corporation gives the same amount of money its employee gave to the same charity. Green Lake Conference Center is eligible for many matching gift programs. To participate, simply:

  • Check with your Human Resources or Matching Gift Department to see if your company has a matching gift program. Tell them that Green Lake Conference Center is a non-profit corporation which is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) and to which contributions are tax deductible under section 170.
  • Fill out an application and send it with your donation to Green Lake Conference Center.
